Nicola Yoon kicks off book tour for her debut adult novel "One of Our Kind" at Vroman's Bookstore.

Young adult author Nicola Yoon, best known for “The Sun Is Also a Star” and its popular film adaptation, has a new novel called, “One of Our Kind,” and the ending has everyone talking. This debut marks a significant milestone in Yoon's literary career, as she transitions from young adult fiction to exploring deeper, more complex themes in adult literature. Don’t worry! She’s not leaving YA forever.

Yoon revealed that she actually thought of the idea for “One of Our Kind” several years earlier but felt she wasn’t a good enough writer yet. Amid the protests following George Floyd's death and the global conversations on identity and race, Yoon felt compelled to revisit the idea and was motivated to see it through.

She wants readers to reflect on the assumptions we make about ourselves, and others based solely on identity and appearances. This novel delves into these themes, challenging readers to confront and question their own biases and perceptions.

“One of Our Kind” is out today and available wherever books are sold.
